# Required permissions

To use a Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance source in a Qlik Replicate task, the user specified in the Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance [endpoint connection settings](https://help.qlik.com/en-US/replicate/May2026/Content/Replicate/Main/Microsoft%20Azure%20SQL%20Managed%20Instance/msmazuremi_SQLServerDB_DiaBox_source.htm) must be a member of the `db_owner` database role.

To use the `db_owner` database role, the following permissions are required on the master DB:
